MixBuddy is a personal assistant for DJs. It listens next to your
mixer, identifies the tracks you play, reads their BPM and key, and remembers the
transitions you love. This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and the
choices you have. We built MixBuddy local-first: your data lives on your device by
default, and most of it never leaves it.

Audio and track recognition
Listening. While you have listening turned on, MixBuddy uses your
microphone to hear the music playing so it can identify tracks and detect BPM and key.
This processing happens on your device.
Recognition. To name a track, the app creates an acoustic fingerprint
of a short passage and sends it to Apple's ShazamKit service for matching. Apple's handling
of that request is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
We do not receive or store the raw audio you play.
Saved clips. When you save a mix, MixBuddy keeps a short audio clip of
that transition so you can listen back. These clips are stored only on your device
and are not uploaded to our servers.
Your account
No account needed. You can use MixBuddy without signing in. The app
creates an anonymous, device-based identity so it works with zero setup.
Sign in with Apple. If you choose to sign in, we receive your name and
email address as provided by Apple, which we use to create your account and sync your data
across your devices. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay
address, not your real email.
Mix data and sync
What we store. The mixes you save — track titles and artists, BPM, key,
and the transitions between them — are kept as metadata.
Where. This metadata lives on your device. When you are signed in, it also
syncs to our servers so you can reach it from your other devices. Saved audio clips are not
part of this sync and remain on your device.
Improving suggestions. We may use de-identified, aggregated information
about which tracks are commonly mixed together to improve next-track suggestions for everyone.
This aggregate data is not tied to your identity.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal data.
We do not use third-party advertising or ad trackers.
We do not use track-recognition results to build or train any recognition engine.
Who we share with
We share data only with the service providers needed to run MixBuddy, under agreements that
limit their use of it:
Apple — for track recognition (ShazamKit) and Sign in with Apple.
Our hosting and sync provider — to store the mix metadata described above
for signed-in users.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of
our users.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your synced data for as long as your account is active.
Deleting the app removes all data stored on your device, including saved audio clips.
To delete your account and the data synced to our servers, contact us at the address below
and we will remove it.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your
information.
Children
MixBuddy is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from
children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and revise the date above.
